In a blank Audition project, arm the first track for recording by hitting the R button beside the track title. There is a little arrow pointing in, where you select your input and an arrow out where you select your output. These are located on the left side of the track itself. If you have Audition I’d say stick to recording AND editing in the same software. Audition has some great audio encoders so you’ll always get top quality. If, for a reason, you have to record source in Audacity stick to.wav, 44100 Hz (or 48000 Hz for video) at a high bit-rate 24-bit or 32-bit (float) if Audacity will support it. Stream a 720p stream to youtube, Record to disk at 720p. However, when doing my initial tests, I forgot to run Adobe Audition 3.0 (we use AA to record audio because we like to see the waveform, record audio as a.wav and the current Audio Mixer in Wirecast just isn't 'there' yet for our needs).

I tried using adobe audition and the problem I had was it added a delay to my audio and didn't synch with the webcam. AA is a good tool but I think it's overkill for twitch streaming and takes away CPU better spent on the game.
